Da Nang has been recognized by the famous international travel guide Lonely Planet as the second-best summer destination in Asia this year. In addition, it is the only representative from Vietnam included in the list “The Best Places to Visit in Asia This Summer,” published on May 1.
According to Lonely Planet, Da Nang is “a paradise for outdoor activity lovers,” thanks to its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters such as My Khe Beach and Non Nuoc Beach. The city stands out not only for its natural beauty, but also for the harmonious combination of modernity and cultural tradition.

In recent years, Da Nang has become one of the most important tourist destinations in Vietnam thanks to its modern infrastructure, efficient transportation system, and clean, pleasant environment. The city has an international airport with direct connections to several Asian countries, as well as a wide range of hotels, resorts, and tourism services suitable for different budgets.

One of Da Nang’s main attractions is the wide variety of experiences it offers visitors. Tourists can enjoy water activities, explore nature in Son Tra Peninsula, or visit iconic landmarks such as the Dragon Bridge, famous for its fire and water shows on weekends. The city also preserves an important cultural heritage at the Cham Sculpture Museum, which houses the largest collection of Cham art in Vietnam.

Local gastronomy is another reason why Da Nang attracts thousands of international travelers. Lonely Planet recommends trying traditional Vietnamese sweet soups, the famous iced milk coffee, and local specialties such as mi Quang, pork rolls with rice paper, and fresh seafood. Compared to many other tourist destinations in Asia, Da Nang offers excellent value for money.
In addition to its urban attractions, Da Nang is considered an important tourism hub in central Vietnam. From the city, travelers can easily reach the Ancient Town of Hoi An, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located about one hour away by car. Hoi An is famous for its ancient architecture, colorful lanterns, and traditional atmosphere.

Likewise, tourists can visit the Imperial City of Hue through the famous Hai Van Pass. Hue is known for its royal palaces, imperial tombs, and the cultural heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty. Other nearby popular destinations include Ba Na Hills, My Son Sanctuary, and Cu Lao Cham Island.
The list of the best summer destinations in Asia by Lonely Planet also includes Busan, Singapore, Shimla, Bali, Almaty, Sendai, Chengdu, and the Altai Mountains.
According to Lonely Planet, the sunny weather and clear skies of Southeast Asia make the region an ideal destination for summer travel. Vietnam, especially Da Nang, stands out for its combination of nature, culture, gastronomy, and affordable prices.

Lonely Planet was founded in 1973 in Melbourne, Australia, by Tony Wheeler and Maureen Wheeler. For decades, this guide has been considered one of the most influential travel publications in the world, and its rankings help shape global tourism trends.
